About Joy
Kia Ora, I’m Joy
Registered nurse, midwife of 25 years, mother of four, dairy farmer’s wife and the one holding the needle at The Vitamin Nurse.
My philosophy
I believe beauty and health are about how you feel about yourself. It’s not about turning back time. It’s about looking and feeling your absolute best for the stage of life you’re at.
I love classy, natural results that don’t give anything away, but have people noticing how great you look. It’s our little secret! Don’t be afraid to consider these treatments or to talk them through with me. Education is key to understanding the best way to treat your individual body and face.
Thirty Years of Northland Healthcare
I’ve spent my whole career looking after Northlanders. Twenty-five of those years were in midwifery, at bedsides and kitchen tables from Whangārei to the Far North, often at two in the morning. Midwifery teaches you things no textbook can: how to read people, how to keep calm hands under pressure and how to make someone feel safe in a vulnerable moment.
That’s the experience I bring to every infusion and every injectable appointment now. The setting changed. The care didn’t.
Why Infusions and Injectables
I watched too many good people run themselves into the ground looking after everyone else. Farmers, mums, nurses, tradies: Northland runs on people who never stop. IV nutrient therapy drew me in because it’s practical wellbeing that fits real lives, and skin and cosmetic work lets me help people feel like themselves again in a different way.
Both come down to the same thing: whole-person care from someone who genuinely gives a hoot. And why shouldn’t you feel gorgeous at every age?
Laughter Is the Best Medicine
That’s been my guiding principle through four kids, a dairy farm and three decades of nursing, and it’s come in handy more times than I can count. Expect a proper welcome, a decent yarn and probably a laugh at my expense somewhere along the way. You’ll leave feeling looked after, because you were.
Toitū te Hauora
Hold fast to wellness. It’s the promise on my business card and the standard behind every appointment. Wellness isn’t a one-off fix; it’s something you hold on to, and my job is to help you keep your grip.
